Tottenham hero Teddy Sheringham has praised chairman Daniel Levy for appointing Antonio Conte.
Sheringham insists Levy should be applauded for his ambition.
"That's what Daniel Levy is hoping for," he admitted to football.london. "You've go to take your hat off to him, he's trying.
"He's gone out and got the so-called best in [Jose] Mourinho, things didn't quite work out, he tried to get other managers and then Nuno came in, probably the wrong man at the time for the job and now he's gone out and got the next best again so you've got to take your hat off to him for trying.
"It's not as if he's [Levy] trying to do things on the cheap and make things right, the wrong way, he's going out and getting the best managers that he sees available and Conte is up there.
"He's [Conte] got a great record but he's said this is his toughest challenge because he's taken a team that are in the doldrums as such, they aren't renowned for winning trophies so there's a double whammy there and plus taking a team over when they are in about eighth place, wasn't ideal."
