Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has defended his France teammates after their Euro 2020 elimination.

Kylian Mbappe missed the decisive penalty in the round of 16 shootout against Switzerland last night.

France captain Lloris later remarked: "We're not looking for excuses. The regret if we have to have one is that we were ahead 3-1.

"In recent years, we have known how to shut down and turn off.

"We went through every possible emotion, and honestly it was football the way we like it. The two goals they closed in the last quarter really hurt us."
