Tottenham fullback Ben Davies was delighted for Gareth Bale after victory over Burnley.
The on-loan Real Madrid attacker scored twice in the 4-0 win.
And fellow Welshman Davies said: "Bale has received a lot of criticism, probably unfair, when he was at his best.
"He is an incredibly strong person to deal with things that have been said about him off the field and continue with his career as well.
"Even after four Champions League titles, with everything he has done for Wales, what he did at Real Madrid ... there are still those who question his talent. That must be difficult to digest. I think he does. He's doing incredibly well. He's a great player.
"When there are players of his quality, be it Bale, Cristiano or Messi, everyone has an opinion on them. Right now they are great and the next day, poor.
"Bale is Bale and he always gives his best. We have seen him in this year's games. He scores, he gives assists ... The quality is there and I'm sure we will enjoy him for the rest of the year."
