Tottenham have failed with an offer for Roma striker Edin Dzeko.

Ahead of the January market, Spurs boss Jose Mourinho is keen to bring the former Manchester City striker back to England. Mourinho sees Dzeko as ideal cover for Harry Kane.

However, ESPN says Tottenham's approach this week has been rejected by Roma.

The Giallorosso have no plans to lose the 33 year-old midseason, particularly given his value to coach Paulo Fonseca.

Dzeko has scored eight goals in 19 games this term.
