Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino admits he was pleasantly surprised by the energy his team showed on Sunday.

Spurs returned to Premier League action against Crystal Palace following their Europa League win over Qarabag on Thursday night and the pace and speed of which they played was certainly not lost on Pochettino following the 1-0 triumph,

"For us after playing Thursday in the Europa League it was a tough game but we played well and fully deserved the win," Pochettino said.

"The way we play, we dominated the game, more than 60 per cent of the ball, more chances than the opponent. I'm very pleased, we gave a big effort.

"The players showed very good energy after a tough game against Qarabag."

Son Heung-min, who scored twice against Qarabag, netted the only goal of the clash with the Eagles in the 68th minute to send Spurs to ninth place on the table.
