Tottenham have received encouragement in their pursuit of Ajax star Christian Eriksen.

The London Evening Standard says Eriksen is one of Spurs' principal targets, either in the forthcoming transfer window or next summer, and Ajax have settled on Adam Maher, who plays for AZ Alkmaar, as the man to step into his shoes.

Maher, 19, has also been followed closely by Spurs since making his debut two years ago. Along with Eriksen, Maher is one of the players highly recommended by Spurs scouts in Holland.
