Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen has shrugged off being blanked by Ajax chief Marc Overmars.

Overmars announced last week they wouldn't be moving for Vertonghen this summer, who comes off contract at the end of this season.

"There is no disappointment, because it has been clear to me for a long time," Vertonghen told Sporza.

"Ajax will always mean something special to me, but it never turned up.

"I said to myself that I would not compete with my good friend Daley Blind. He does really well there."
