Tottenham defender Kaboul: I know I can match King quality

Younes Kaboul feels he can match the impact of Ledley King at Tottenham.

Kaboul has appeared in every one of Spurs' Premier League matches and, when the club captain is fit, he has formed a durable partnership with King in central defence. Despite his problems with injuries, King remains Spurs' most reliable defender and Kaboul is confident he can emulate the England international.

"I believe in myself more now than I used to," Kaboul told the London Evening Standard. "Can I get to Ledley's level? Of course I can.

"I can do more than what I'm doing now. That's why I'm working very hard to be a top defender.

"When I watch a game, I don't watch it for goals or entertainment. I look especially at defenders' performances and try to learn from them and that helps a lot. On the pitch, I then know what I have to do.

"In France when I was younger, I used to watch people like [current France coach] Laurent Blanc and Marcel Desailly but now the game is different. It's much quicker and there is a lot of pressing. In the last five years, football has changed very quickly and every year it's changing more and more."
