Tottenham chiefs are baffled by comments from Danny Rose this week casting doubt on his future.
The London Evening Standard says Spurs management have been left surprised by Rose's claims.
Rose said he does not know if he will be at Spurs next season, with the 28-year-old suggesting the club typically try to move on players of a certain age.
“It's not about regular first-team football. I know my age and I know how the club's run," said Rose, who made 36 appearances in all competitions this season.
“I'll be just sitting tight over the next few weeks and just seeing what happens. Either way, I'm prepared for whatever happens."
Spurs do not have a hard-and-fast rule about moving on players approaching 30 and Rose's comments, made while on Nations League duty with England, came out of the blue, with club sources insisting that no decision has been made on his future.
