Tottenham chief Levy prepares to raise Alderweireld asking price

Tottenham are ready to increase their asking price for Toby Alderweireld.

The Belgian central defender has a clause in his contract that allows him to leave for £25 million.

However, the clause is not active after July 26.

It means that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will be free to increase the asking price for the veteran centre-back to £40 million, per the Telegraph.

Manchester United are among the teams that have an interest in Alderweireld.

Roma also wanted to sign him, but were unable to find a financial solution to complete the deal.

If Alderweireld's clause expires, he is likely to stay at Spurs for the coming season.
