Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris insists he's never pursued the Ballon d'Or during his career.

Chelsea keeper Edouard Mendy has complained about failing to earn a nomination this year.

Lloris told Le Parisien: "In general, we like attacking football and we reward goals and fine gestures.

"Since 2019, the Yashin Prize has been created to honour the best goalkeeper of the year. It is an alternative. It's not worth the Ballon d'Or, but it's important recognition.

"Personally, I've been fortunate enough to be on the nominee list three times, but it was never a goal."
