Tottenham boss Redknapp keen to see Parker in England action

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is looking forward to watching West Ham United star Scott Parker for England tonight.

In his column for The Sun, Redknapp wrote: "He has just come through the most awkward and strange season of his career, winning personal honours and plaudits while going down with West Ham and finishing bottom of the Premier League.

"But for England today he could well showcase himself as a vital component in the team that goes on to win us next year's European Championship.

"Scott is combative, relentless, professional, modest and unbendingly committed. That's why he was voted the Football Writers' Player of the Year and why he is popular with most supporters of most clubs.

"Today he's likely to line up alongside Frank Lampard and Jack Wilshere against Switzerland. But when Steven Gerrard is fit, I don't see why Scott has to drop out.

"He could be a good fit in a midfield diamond.

"Scott is as versatile as any midfielder we have."
