Tottenham hope to sign Barcelona midfielder Alex Hleb for £5 million.
The Daily Star says they face stiff competition from Spanish side Seville for the Barcelona winger.
The deal could hinge on how Tottenham get on in their Champions League second-leg play-off against Swiss side Young Boys next Wednesday.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has been interested in the Belorussian ace for most of the summer.
But it is only now that Barca coach Pep Guardiola has decided he is no longer part of his plans. Hleb, 29, went on loan to German side Stuttgart last season. Now he has returned to the Nou Camp, but Guardiola will not give him a squad number for the coming season.
Hleb's agent Uli Ferber had a meeting with Barca yesterday and he has been given the green light to find his player another club.
