Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp is delighted he made the signing of defender William Gallas who he took on a free transfer.
The Frenchman joined Spurs this summer, signing after a stint with London rivals Arsenal, and following the injury to Michael Dawson whilst playing for England on Friday night, Redknapp said it was a good decision to bring him in to the squad.
"Jonathan Woodgate is struggling, Ledley King can't play every game and you also have to remember that Michael had an Achilles injury last season, so it was always a position we needed to do something in and that's why we did it (signed Gallas)," he said.
"Sebastien Bassong was excellent last season and we've got decent cover there, players who can come in and do a job, but you also need experience.
"Ledley's got experience, Michael's got experience and now William's experience "
