Tottenham boss Redknapp blocks Lokomotiv Moscow move for Pavlyuchenko

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has blocked Roman Pavlyuchenko from moving to Lokomotiv Moscow.

The Daily Mail says the Russians had hoped to clinch the signing of the 28-year-old for £10.5million this week after positive talks with White Hart Lane chairman Daniel Levy.

But Redknapp has vetoed the deal because he is not prepared to weaken a squad chasing a top-four League finish and FA Cup glory.

Pavlyuchenko is desperate to return to Russia, where teams can buy till mid-March, after failing to secure a starting place at Spurs.

Lokomotiv president Nikolai Naumov said last night: "It's our understanding that the view within Tottenham is split. The directors have no objection to selling the player, but the coach wants to keep him till at least the summer.

"We'll talk about the transfer at the end of the season."
