Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has revealed how he's leaned on Roberto Martinez when considering Spanish transfer targets.
In his match programmme notes for yesterday's 9-1 thrashing of Martinez's Wigan, Redknapp admitted he had known the Spaniard for some time.
Redknapp said: "I think Roberto Martinez is one of the brightest young managers in the country and I was really impressed with his work at Swansea. He had them playing great football in my opinion and he has now gone and carried on the great work that has been done so far at Wigan.
"I have rung him on a few occasions in the last couple of years when I have wanted to know about particular Spanish players. He has a great knowledge of the Spanish league and he is a smashing guy."
