Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino admits the Premier League is always their priority.

Pochettino says the club focuses on the Premier League ahead of the Champions League.

He said, "English football, because of its culture, gives the Premier League a very high value. It is the superior competition, beyond the Champions.

"The English footballer wants to have matches in the Premier League, and perhaps leaves aside European competitions a bit. The English league is different from the Spanish one. It took me a while to understand, from December to January is crazy.

"What effect does that have? Not at the time of the competition, but in a couple of months, when important things are played in Europe. That means that the squad does not arrive in the best possible conditions, although that is not an excuse."
