Tottenham boss Mourinho: We can't focus on Cup final yet

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho knows they face a huge week ahead.

Spurs have a big nine days ahead, starting on Friday night at Everton. They take on Southampton in a midweek fixture before going to Wembley to take on Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final.

Mourinho insisted that the results against Everton and Southampton will have no bearing on his side's fortunes in the showpiece final in London next weekend.

He said, "Independent of the result at Goodison and the result against Southampton, it's a big nine days and it's going to end with a cup final which of course for all of us is going to be an important moment.

"So we are not depending on the Goodison result to go to that final with the best spirit or feelings but in this moment the final is still a little bit far. And of course the Goodison match is very important – the distance between the two teams is very short, they have one match in hand but the distance is very, very short.

"They have similar objectives, they're going to fight with us and other clubs for the best possible position and to see if we or them can get European position.

"So it's an important match, we need to separate the waters – we need to say the final is important but it's not the match tomorrow. We need to focus on an important match."
