Tottenham boss Mourinho twice tried to sign defenders from Chelsea

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho twice tried to sign defenders from Chelsea over the summer.

Joe Rodon signed for Spurs late in the window from Swansea City with Mourinho having targeted a number of centre-backs.

The Daily Mail claim Toni Rudiger was on the verge of completing the move after holding positive talks with Mourinho.

He ended up staying at Stamford Bridge, reportedly due to fears over the backlash that could come from Chelsea fans.

L'Equipe reported that Tottenham were also keen on signing Kurt Zouma from the Blues and even had an offer rejected.
