Tottenham, Birmingham alerted as Rangers face prospect of more player sales

Premiership clubs are eyeing off Rangers talent.

The Scottish Sun says Rangers sold midfield star Pedro Mendes to Sporting Lisbon last week, yet boss Walter Smith, 61, was still unable to secure his first permanent signing since August 2008.

He has even been warned that his £16m wage bill will have to be dramatically slashed in the summer.

That's sparked fears over the future of stars like Allan McGregor and Steven Davis.

Tottenham are keen on goalkeeper McGregor, while former Aston Villa midfielder Davis has been interesting Birmingham City, Sunderland and former club Fulham.
