Tottenham ace Gareth Bale: I'm feeling a lot of happiness

Tottenham ace Gareth Bale was delighted to score in victory over Brighton.

It was the first goal of his second spell at Spurs - and his first since a trademark 30-yarder to beat Sunderland in the final match of his first spell in May, 2013.

“It was a bit relief, a lot of happiness," he said. “From an individual point of view it was great but even more satisfying to see the game out, for it to be the winning goal and to get three points.

“It's an incredible feeling personally, and you just wish the fans were here to celebrate. If that was the case, then... I can't imagine that feeling. The most important thing is that I got the goal for the team and we got the three points."

Two starts and two substitute appearances in, Bale also told the club's website: “I'm feeling good.

“I'm getting a lot fitter, obviously it's been good to get a couple of starts in the Europa League, getting more minutes today will benefit me again.

“I'm staying patient, I know I have to build my match fitness, it's been a while since I put a couple of games together, so I'll continue to work hard in training every day, and in the games when I'm given the chance."
