Fernando Torres has revealed how he tried to get Atletico Madrid to sign former Barcelona captain Andres Iniesta.

Both players now play in Japan, with Iniesta at Vissel Kobe and Torres with Sagan Tosu.

Torres said to Iniesta in a combined interview: "I wanted to recruit you at Atlético Madrid.

"When I was at Atlético, you started to join Barça's first team and I told (director) Miguel Angel Gil Marin: 'Ask for him on loan, he will play here'.

"He told me no."
