Former Manchester City and Barcelona assistant coach Domenec Torrent says Pep Guardiola will leave the job when his players stop responding to him.

Torrent also admits management under Guardiola always seek to replace players when it appears they're growing "tired of his message".

“As a footballer you know that you are going to improve and win with Guardiola, but it is not free. It is intense, and requires concentration. To be prepared. To avoid problems it is better to make two or three changes every season," Torrent told The Athletic.

"Pep wants every player to give the maximum and some are exhausted by that intensity because they want to relax and earn more money, but the best never tire of learning. If you see that someone is not happy, you have to replace them, no matter who they are.

"As a coach you notice when the footballer gets tired of your message. And if you see it become repetitive, then you start to consider putting an end to it."
