Toronto FC and Seattle Sounders are believed to be showing considerable interest in USA international Herculez Gomez.
SI.com suggested that the Sounders are looking to partner the Santos Laguna man, a former Sounders player himself, with new signing Obafemi Martins.
Some reports also indicate that Toronto boss Ryan Nelsen, who missed out on Bolton's Kevin Davies, sees the prolific 31-year old as the perfect partner to Wales international Robert Earnshaw up front as they await the return of Danny Koevermans from a knee injury.
Gomez, who has previously played with LA Galaxy, Colorado Rapids, Sporting Kansas City (when the Wizards), Puebla, Pachua and Estudiantes Tecos, could be set for a MLS return this summer.
