Torino coach Davide Nicola was delighted with victory over Roma as they moved five points clear of the dropzone.
Toro overcame an early Borja Mayoral goal, as Antonio Sanabria, Simone Zaza and Tomas Rincon struck for the 3-1 triumph.
“There was every reason to suggest we could struggle in this situation, but the team remained solid, held its mentality and hurt Roma throughout with attacking moves," Nicola told Sky Italia.
“We have always been fully concentrated on our path and what can take us to safety. That's the only thing we can control, and we had already put in good performances against Inter and Juventus.
“Today we got the first victory against one of the big clubs, and that gives us more belief, but now we're got to quickly regroup and focus on Wednesday's game with Bologna.
“We talked at the end of the game with great energy, because this is all confirming what we do during the week. The team has to feel like it can put its qualities onto the pitch, regardless of the result.
“Aside from a tricky start, today we got close to the idea I have of this team."
