Torino coach Mazzarri: We leave the Europa League with heads high

Torino coach Walter Mazzarri says they're out of the Europa League with their pride intact.

Toro lost the first leg at home 3-2 and also were beaten 2-1 at Molineux.

Mazzarri said, “It was a great game, but our fault was not scoring a goal when we had the chance. We were hasty in our finishing, because the statistics all show we were superior on their own turf in terms of possession, territorial coverage and precision.

“Meite's chance was practically a penalty and if he'd scored for 2-2 there, we could've poured forward in the final minutes.

“Unfortunately, knowing we were chasing the tie after the first leg made us anxious to score early, even players like Daniele Baselli snatching at the shots.

“It will help us to grow and mature. Wolves were unbeaten at home since January and I think we did not deserve to lose this evening."

He added: "Wolves are clinical and a strong team, so let's not forget we were eliminated by a very good opponent, despite the fact we were at least on a par with them over the two legs, even superior this evening.

“It was a very bad draw for us, especially as the Premier League has already started some weeks ago and they are more match-fit, so we had numerous issues to deal with.

“We go out with heads absolutely held high. Simone Zaza had a nasty knock to the knee and I really doubt he'll be able to recover for the weekend."
