TOP 5: Euro2016 flops whose valuation has DECREASED

There were a number of below par individual performances at Euro2016.

Top players who were touted as Europe's best underperformed in France, which could quite possibly send their valuation plummeting

Here is Tribalfootball's top five:

Paul Pogba (France, Juventus)

While Manchester United are reported to be prepared to pay £100million for the Frenchman, Real Madrid have gone cold.

Had some bright moments but overall underperformed for a player who is being tipped to smash the world record transfer fee.

Some pundits are saying any clubs would be crazy to spend that much on the 23-year-old, particularly considering his subdued showing in the ill-fated final with Portugal.

Harry Kane (England, Tottenham)

Kane looked jaded throughout England's four matches.

His sparkling Spurs form was non-existent and his inability at set-pieces suggests he isn't quite as special as we think, even if his job is to score goals, not provide them.

At one point late last season, Kane was ranked as the Premier League's most valuable player and came in at number five worldwide. The Euros disaster may have sent that spiralling.

However, he only needs to start the season well with Tottenham in a bid to drive his valuation back up.

Raheem Sterling (England, Manchester City)

Many critics continue to shake their head as to why Man City spent £49m on Sterling last summer.

He is blessed with remarkable pace but that is simply not enough to be a quality modern day footballer.

The 21-year-old was inadequate on the wing, managing to create almost nothing for his attacking teammates, while missing a golden opportunity in the eventual win over Wales.

The transfer fee seems Liverpool received now looks like a great piece of business by the Reds but can Raheem prove the doubters wrong under Pep?

Arda Turan (Turkey, Barcelona)

The highly-rated attacking midfielder was supposed to be Turkey's shining light.

After he was finally given permission to play for Barcelona from January, following his £28.5m transfer from Atletico Madrid last summer, Turan flattered to deceive in La Liga.

He did exactly the same in his country's three matches, failing to get a single short on target as they bowed out almost without a whimper.

Recent reports suggest a number of clubs such as Arsenal, Chelsea, Juventus and Borussia Dortmund are prepared to offer him a pathway out of Camp Nou but to Turan's credit, he is keen to stay and fight for his place under Luis Enrique.

David Alaba (Austria, Bayern Munich)

The highly-rated Alaba wanted to play for Barcelona prior to the tournament, reportedly saying he wants to play in midfielder for the Catalan giants.

He also indicated to Bayern that a more advanced position to the left-back and central defensive roles he has been playing would be welcome.

Well, he got the chance to show his wares for Austria but ultimately failed to deliver on the big stage with a trio of substandard efforts as his country crashed out of the tournament unceremoniously.

Dishonourable mentions:

Romelu Lukaku (Belgium, Everton)

While his transfer fee now sits at around £65m, Lukaku's chances of moving to a massive club took a slight turn for the worse.

The Belgian striker looked decent at times but ultimately did not fire as expected in France with former club Chelsea, Manchester United, PSG, Arsenal and Bayern Munich all likely to opt against the enormous asking price.

Perhaps a little harsh but you would usually predict much more from a player all the big clubs desire.

Andre Gomes (Portugal, Valencia)

There was plenty of interest in the cultured Valencia midfielder prior to the Euros but he eventually lost his spot in Portugal's title-winning side.

Teenager Renato Sanches cast aside his more experienced colleague who has been linked with Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, PSG and Juventus but is more likely to be staying put at the Mestalla.

Gomes received rave reviews pre-tournament but was only ok in France and the frenzied interest in him has died down somewhat.

Was valued at over £54m at one point prior to the Euros…
