St Mirren have told midfielder Tonet his contract will not be extended. The 29-year-old joined Saints in the summer but has not played since being sent off against Hearts in August.
Boss Gus MacPherson told the club's official website: "Tonet has been told that we won't be extending his contract at the end of the season.
"The deal he signed with us last summer was just for this season so we felt it was only fair to tell him now that it would be in his own interest to see if he could find himself another club.
"It's not fair to keep a player hanging on if a decision has already been made - so we felt it was only fair to give him plenty of notice.
"Tonet has been unfortunate in his time here at St Mirren. After his sending off, he picked up a hamstring injury which held him back a bit."
MacPherson hinted he would be looking to keep hold of some of his other players who are out of contract in the summer.
He said: "We have spoken to one or two other players who will be out of contract at the end of the season. We are waiting on them getting back to us."
