Tomas Soucek happy being West Ham matchwinner against Everton

Tomas Soucek was delighted to prove West Ham's matchwinner in victory against Everton.

The Czech Republic midfielder was in the right place at the right time to knock home from close range after Aaron Cresswell's low drive deflected off home defender Yerry Mina and into his path.

It gave Souček his fifth goal of the season, and eighth in just 30 games since arriving in east London a little under a year ago.

"I'm ready - when someone shoots I want to be close to the ball and sometimes I can score," he told whufc.com.

"I don't know if it's instinct, but when the ball is going into the box I want to be there and I want to be prepared for those moments.

"This celebration was for Vlad [Coufal], for my Czech teammate. Five days ago he had a new daughter and this celebration was for her. I wish her all the best for many years and this celebration was for Natalie and for everyone because 2020 was hard for everybody."
