Tianjin record first ACL victory over Kawasaki

Chinese club Tianjin Teda have recorded their first ever Asian Champions League victory, defeating Kawasaki Frontale 3-1. In an ill-tempered affair, Ma Leilei provided the highlights for Tianjin with two brilliant pieces of play in the first half.

The 12th minute saw Ma crash a 30-yard strike into the back of the Kawasaki net and he followed it up seven minutes later with a great touch then finish after a Damiano Tommassi header into the area.

The remainder of the half let Kawasaki get their breath back and try to work their way into the game.

Their patience was rewarded in the 51st minute when Renatinho headed home to give the Japanese outfit some hope but it was to no avail as Tommassi turned scorer in the 90th minute to end the contest.

The three points for Tianjin did nothing more than earn some respect for the club as the top two from Group H, Kawasaki and Pohang Steelers have qualified for the next phase.
