Mason Greenwood is ready to start for Manchester United against Chelsea and will provide enough goals to replace Inter Milan-bound Romelu Lukaku.
That is according to Class of 92' graduate and MUTV analyst Ben Thornley.
Supporters witnessed Greenwood's first-team potential when he was United's best player in the shocking loss to Cardiff City on the final day of last season.
The 17-year-old has continued his exciting progress this summer, scoring two goals including a stunner in Saturday's 1-0 win over Inter Milan.
Greenwood's senior team-mates have spoken of his maturity and class, and Thornley believes the forward, alongside fellow academy stars James Garner, Tahith Chong and Angel Gomes, will serve a role for Solskjaer this season.
He told TribalFootball.com: "I've watched him at all levels now. The only team he hasn't played for is the women's!
"I've seen him play for the 18s, 19s, 23s and I was at Wolves last season when he scored his first U23s goal. And now obviously he's scored for the first team as well.
"What I love about Mason is that nothing seems to faze him. He approaches each game exactly the same, whether he's playing for the 18s of first-team, he has this confidence and belief in his own ability that he doesn't think that anybody is going to get the better of him.
"He makes intelligent runs, he has two great feet, he can go inside, he can go outside, he's got pace and obviously when it comes to it, as we saw against Inter Milan and on so many occasions in the junior sides, he can score goals.
"I'm absolutely certain that Greenwood, alongside the likes of James Garner, Tahith Chong and Angel Gomes, will feature and start for Manchester United this campaign."
Speaking after Greenwood's match-winning display against Inter, Solskjaer hinted he could find a place for the Bradford native in his starting line-up for the Premier League opener against Chelsea on August 11.
Asked if Solskjaer could follow through on the suggestion, Thornley added: "I do, I honestly do.
"Touch wood that if he manages to stay injury free between now and August 11th, I have absolutely no doubt Ole Gunnar will want to include him in his starting line-up, and again having someone like him is like having a brand new player coming into the team, and a very, very exciting one at that."
Solskjaer could lose a forward before August 8 as negotiations continue between United and Inter over the sale of Romelu Lukaku.
It is unclear whether United want to sign a replacement for the Belgium international, but in Thornley's opinion, Solskjaer has already found a suitable candidate in Greenwood.
He continued: "If you think about who they've got already. They've signed Dan James, they've got Marcus [Rashford] and Anthony Martial, who you know is still a very, very talented player that I feel as though we've yet to see the best of.
"And you've obviously got Jesse [Lingard] who can fill in a sort of more advanced role, I know he prefers to play as a number ten. But up there we've got a hell of a lot of pace, and I don't feel as though, even if Romelu Lukaku decides to leave, that we need to immediately have a knee-jerk reaction to losing a forward when we've got an incredible one coming through the ranks in Mason Greenwood."
