Thiago Motta was delighted to make his playing comeback for Atletico Madrid in Sunday night's 0-0 draw with Almeria.

It was the Brazilian's first game in seven weeks after injuring his knee in training in September. Atletico coach Javier Aguirre gave Motta 15 minutes at the end of the match and the midfielder said: "I must thank Aguirre for his support.

"Also, for the 15 minutes he gave me. Now I want to show him in training that I should be playing from the start. I came to Atletico to play and I'll work hard to get back into the starting XI."
