Terry urges Clarke to stick with Chelsea

John Terry has urged Chelsea not to let assistant manager Steve Clarke leave the club.

The Scot has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge ever since Jose Mourinho departed last month.

New manager Avram Grant wants to add to his coaching staff, with Henk ten Cate admitting talks have taken place over his release from Dutch club Ajax.

The Blues captain added in The Daily Mail: "Obviously he [Avram Grant] wants his people around him and now we have an international break, he will feel it is the time to bring people in.

"Clarkey is a familiar face to the players and we have needed him around us. It is very important to have someone like Clarkey around.

"Avram has wanted him to do his bit and Clarkey knows the club inside out.

"He is passionate for the club and when he speaks it is from the heart. That is very important not only for the English boys but the foreign lads who have not been here too long. Hopefully, we can keep hold of him."
