Ten Hag explains Man Utd pair McTominay, Shaw missing FA Cup win

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag explained the absences of Scott McTominay and Luke Shaw for the FA Cup win over Reading.

McTominay was on the bench against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg, but did not make an appearance. His last start came against Arsenal in the 3-2 loss at the Emirates Stadium last Sunday.

As for Shaw, he also started in the defeat to the Gunners last weekend, but was missing from the squad that travelled to The City Ground on Wednesday night.

Speaking to MUTV, Ten Hag said that he is hopeful the duo can make a swift return against Forest in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final.

“Luke is ill and Scott has a small problem," said Ten Hag.

“We don't want to take risks, so I hope they can be back on Wednesday but I'm not sure."
