Taylor relishing Burnley battle after signing new deal

Charlie Taylor has committed his immediate future to Burnley, despite not being first choice.

The Clarets star has signed a new contract, which keeps him at the club until the end of the 2023-2024 season.

The 27-year-old rarely starts for Burnley, but he is relishing his battle with Stephen Ward and Erik Pieters for the starting left back spot.

The decision to renew is an interesting one, as he has only started one Premier League game this season.

"I've said before that all any professional wants to do is play. It's been frustrating at times, but it's also been worth it," said Taylor to the club website after signing his contract.

"We have a very competitive squad, which bodes well for now and the future, and I'm delighted that I'm going to be part of it for the future."
