The Magpies are sitting third on the table, just a point behind Manchester United and six behind league leaders Manchester City, and Taylor is loving the fact that they are not down the bottom scrapping for points like it has been in the past in the top flight.
"Now we have given ourselves a platform to build on," the 27-year old told The Chronicle. "Come the Manchester games, there is no pressure on us whatsoever.
"It's not like we are down there fighting for points.
"We have given ourselves a little cushion for the Manchester games because we knew they were coming up.
"The games come quick and fast.
"We're sitting pretty in the league and on a nice number of points. We're not fighting for those points (in a relegation scenario) and there is no pressure on us."
