On-loan Real Madrid midfielder Takefusa Kubo made his Villarreal debut in their 3-1 friendly win over Cartagena on Sunday evening.
Kubo played the second half of what was also Unai Emery's first game in charge of the Yellow Submarine.
The match, which ended 3-1 to Villarreal thanks to goals from Fernando Nino, Gerard Moreno and Paco Alcacer, was played at the Pinatar Arena - the home of Spain's youth teams.
New signings Dani Parejo and Francis Coquelin also made their debuts after joining from Valencia.
