Syria moves to top of Group D with away win

Syria has accounted for Lebanon 2-0 in Group D action of Asian Cup qualifiers in Saida overnight.

Jihad Al Hussain opened the scoring in the 37th minute and his goal was followed by Firas Al Khatib who hit the back of the net with just over ten minutes remaining.

The win sees Syria move to the top of the group whilst Lebanon are stuck at the bottom after two defeats.
