Swindon winger Byrne doesn't regret leaving Tottenham

Swindon Town winger Nathan Byrne doesn't regret quitting Tottenham.

He walked out of White Hart Lane when Andre Villas Boas was in charge because he couldn't see a path to the first team.

Byrne told the Daily Mail: "I'm really pleased for the other lads who are getting their chance but there's no point for me looking back. You can regret a lot of things in your life if you choose to, but I like to just enjoy what I'm doing.

"I was a year older than Harry Kane and a year younger than Ryan Mason, and we were a really strong group at Spurs. For three years it felt like we were cleaning up pretty much all the trophies at that level.

"There were so many good players in that group - Andros Townsend, Steven Caulker, Tom Carroll who is doing well now. We had a very talented team.

"As I was getting older I went out on several loans, but it came to the last year of my time there and it seemed none of the younger lads were getting a chance.

"Tim Sherwood always talked about how we should get chances with the first team, and when he got the job he stuck to his word, and now those players are doing really well."
