Swedish FA chief Stefan Pettersson says there's a confidence Manchester United attacker Anthony Elanga will commit to them.
Elanga also qualifies for Cameroon and England.
But Pettersson said: "He probably knows what we in Sweden think of him.
"We have the business we have and there we strive for the players in the national youth team to feel well taken care of. Elanga has been part of the U21 national team for a while now and probably knows what we in Sweden think of him."
Asked if he knew whether Sweden cooach Janne Andersson had been in contact with Elanga, Pettersson also said: "I dare not answer that.
"They (the leaders) do not need to tell me who they are talking to."
