Swansea City winger Jefferson Montero is staying put at the club regardless of the recent reports linking him with a loan move to Championship side Middlesbrough.

The 26-year-old Ecuador international had been rumoured to be off to Boro as they chase automatic promotion to the Premier League but remains a key player at the Liberty Stadium despite being sparingly used since the arrival of head coach Francesco Guidolin.

"There are no plans for Jefferson Montero to go anywhere on loan. As things stand, he will stay at Swansea for the rest of the season," the South Wales Evening Post cites a club spokesman as saying.

Montero has made 10 league starts for the Swans this season.
