Swansea midfielder Flynn Downes interesting Leeds scouts

Swansea City midfielder Flynn Downes is interesting Leeds United.

The Times says Leeds have made Downes their number one target if Kalvin Phillips leaves Elland Road this summer.

Interest in Phillips is expected to be high with Newcastle and West Ham also among suitors. The England midfielder has also been linked with a big money move to Manchester United and Liverpool in the past.

The Whites scouting department have highlighted the Downes as Phillips' replacement having made 31 Championship appearances so far this season.

The 23-year-old has received a vast amount of praise from Swans boss Russell Martin who told the club's official website: “I'm running out of superlatives for Flynn. He came from League One. He was a really important signing for us. He's one of our biggest assets.

“We have a lot of good players, some of them are suited more to the style of play than others. He certainly is that. He's been incredible."
