Swansea defender Rangel says Swans have shown they can be a 'Premier League club for a long time'

Swansea City's veteran defender Angel Rangel believes that the Swans can continue as a Premier League club for the foreseeable future.

City endured a tumultuous campaign in the Premier League last season but in the end, the Swans managed to avoid relegation in comfortable fashion under the tutelage of manager Paul Clement.

Experienced defender Angel Rangel was left very pleased with Swansea's recovery following the arrival of Clement as manager and the Spaniard believes that the Welsh outfit can remain a Premier League team for many years to come.

Rangel said: "It was a tough season – in my 10 years at the club I would say it has been the most difficult. In the last couple of seasons we have had some harder times but we have always pulled through.

"This year it was really, really close. It has been really hard, really stressful. But since January I think we have had a fantastic five or six months. We have done really well during that period.

"A lot of people said we were down at Christmas – all the experts said that. But I think we have shown that Swansea City can be a Premier League club for a long time."
