Swansea City boss Paulo Sousa is being linked with the job at Hull City.
The Daily Mail says the club's 'management consultant', Iain Dowie, has admitted concerns over his future despite a promising start to his nine-game tenure, and the future of Phil Brown, the manager who is on gardening leave, is yet to be resolved.
Sousa, 39, has turned Swansea into promotion contenders but has clashed with chairman Huw Jenkins, believing a play-off place would have been assured by now if he had been allowed to bring in players to bolster his injury-hit squad.
Sousa was considered by former club Sporting Lisbon last week but he has made it clear he wants to manage in the Premier League.
