Swansea City boss Garry Monk is happy proving the naysayers wrong this season.

Swansea round off their best Premier League season at Crystal Palace with a record points haul and a highest-ever finish of eighth already in the bag.

"Criticism is one of the things that always drives me," said Monk.

"I can understand why people said what they said. It wasn't anything vindictive or nasty, but when people don't think you can do a good job it's nice to prove people wrong.

"But I never doubted myself. I knew it would be tough and I knew it would be hard as it's not an easy job at all.

"But I just knew that the work I was going to put in and the work I was going to give to the players that we would be fine.

"It will be the same for next season but if I get that same commitment and desire from the players then normally we would get a good season."
