Swansea City boss Carlos Carvalhal is leaning on super agent Jorge Mendes to strengthen his squad this month.

The Telegraph says Atlético Madrid's Kevin Gameiro and Nicolás Gaitán are both Mendes clients and have been recommended by the Portuguese agent.

AC Milan striker Andre Silva has also attracted Swans enquiries.

Swansea's American owners, Steve Kaplan and Jason Levien, are pledging another £10m to the club's survival fund to help the fight to retain their top-flight status.

It takes Carvalhal's budget to around £30m yet he has branded the January window “a nightmare".
