Sigurdsson insists that he is happy in South Wales and that a move to Everton was never on the cards.
He explained to the Telegraph: “What I like is this is a growing club. Tottenham have been there for many years. But there's something nice about being inside a club as it grows.
“Whether this will ever be a Champions League club, who knows. That would take time – unless you have a season like Leicester did.
“You say you try not to pay too much attention but of course you are aware of what is going on.
“And your friends are asking you all the time: 'Are you going to sign for Everton?' But I'm really happy here. I'd been discussing a new contract with the club for quite a while.
“It got delayed because of the Americans coming in to take over. Once that was done, there was no reason why I would want to go."
