Former England striker Chris Sutton was critical of Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford after last night's 1-1 draw with Germany.
Pickford enjoyed a strong season for Everton, but Sutton believes the Blues' No.1 must break out of his habit of trying to glamorise simple saves.
Sutton wrote in his his Daily Mail column: "It was a poor goal to concede and a few in England shirts didn't cover themselves in glory defensively. But really, Jordan Pickford should have been saving the eventual effort from Jonas Hofmann. The shot was straight at England's goalkeeper.
"Pickford seems like someone who is forever looking to make his saves look like worldies. Often he manages that - he certainly made a few super stops for Everton towards the end of the season. But he didn't do that on Tuesday night.
"Had Hofmann's shot been fired at Manuel Neuer, you'd expect it to be saved. Instead it went through a weak left hand from Pickford. A nervy moment from Gareth Southgate's No 1."
