Dembele underwent an operation in Finland this week.
His surgeon Lasse Lempeinen stated: “The operation went well, everything went according to plan. As we had already established on the MRI, the damage was at the top of the tendon. I am very satisfied with the result of the operation. The damage was more serious than in 2017.
"His best years are still ahead of him. I am convinced that he can play at the top level again, but then he will have to recover very carefully. I expect it to take around six months.
"With hamstring injuries there is always a high risk that the injury will return. But I am also sure that with the medical team around Dembélé we will do everything we can to prevent a new injury. I will continue to follow his recovery closely."
