Supermac slaughters Newcastle flops: Effort was criminal, suicidal

Newcastle United legend Malcolm Macdonald has slaughtered the club's current players.

Supermac wrote in the Evening Chronicle: "What I witnessed against Spurs is guaranteed to turn any self-respecting pro into a man full of fury.

"Tottenham broke away from the edge of their own penalty area, swept upfield, and scored.

"As the ball hit the back of the net as many as four black-and-white shirts were still ambling over the half-way line.

"No one was breaking their neck to track back.

"That's criminal, suicidal. It annoys decent pros and fans believe you simply don't care.

"It's not the first time this bunch of players have shown an alarming lack of pride.

"A lot packed in long before United had conceded six goals at home to Liverpool last season and it's no coincidence that United were beaten on both occasions by such a big margin."
